November 2025: A Month of Connection and Commitment

post by November 2025: A Month of Connection and Commitment

December 10, 2025

November proved to be another remarkable month at A Better Tomorrow, with our community showing incredible dedication both in accessing support and giving back. A real highlight? Our volunteering hours reached an impressive 222 hours this month – a powerful testament to the commitment of people in recovery who are choosing to support others on their journey. Volunteering is such a powerful part of the recovery journey, giving people meaning and purpose. One client shared what the programme means for him:

Our activity programmes continued to grow throughout the month. Badminton remained the most popular offering with 165 attendances, while 70 footballers stayed active on the pitch and 65 people gathered in our cooking classes. Our creative and fitness programmes also drew strong numbers, with 57 artists, 41 bakers, 33 circuit trainers finding connection and purpose through shared activities.

We’re particularly pleased that 67% of our clients rated our services as excellent or good – feedback that reinforces the value of our community-centred approach to recovery.

Beyond the numbers, November brought personal milestones and powerful advocacy moments that deserve celebrating.

Two celebrations worth shouting about

November brought two remarkable milestones that deserve recognition.

Chris reached 10 years of sobriety. An incredible achievement highlighting the dedication, resilience and the power of the recovery community. Congratulations, Chris and thank you for sharing your journey with us.

Martin, our COO, celebrated 11 years sober, and did so in spectacular fashion, taking on Ben Nevis. The mountain had other plans, though – snow at the summit made for an even more memorable, considerably chillier(!) experience. Well done, Martin, here’s to many more years ahead! Thank you for being an inspiration for us all

Addiction Awareness Week

November concluded with #AddictionAwarenessWeek, where our Chair Ollie and members of the ABT community took part in the national campaign: The Conversation That Changed Everything.

You can watch their powerful contributions on Instagram here.

Addiction thrives in silence. Recovery begins with conversation. The conversation starts here. #letstalkaddiction

We were also invited onto BBC Radio Shropshire to share the work we’re doing and the recovery journey pathways we offer. Centre Manager Leighton and Support Worker Amanda joined Claire Ashton on her show – listen in below:

"Thanks so much to Claire for making Amanda and me feel right at home. Loved talking about A Better Tomorrow, our recovery journeys, and how we can tackle stigma together."
