2025 has been a year of growth at ABT. We’ve expanded our property portfolio and increased bed spaces. Our activities programme has flourished, from badminton to cooking sessions, clients are really engaging; finding new passions in life and making friends in the process. Our volunteering programme has been extraordinary, consistently seeing over 200 hours every week since October.
Growth brings new challenges. The more support we can offer, the more people reach out for help.
And, one call this year brought this into sharp focus:
Martin answered the phone to someone who had just found the strength to leave a home where they were experiencing horrific domestic abuse. They arrived at Telford train station with nothing but a small carrier bag of belongings, scared, exhausted, but determined to start again.
We immediately sprang into action gathering essentials; toiletries, clean clothes, bedding and sanitary items. The basics that help someone feel human again after trauma. But as we scrambled to pull these items together, we realised something important:
these calls are coming more and more often, and we need to be ready…
To end the year, we want to create 100 welcome packs ready for our new clients in 2026. So when someone arrives with very little, we can immediately help them feel at home.
Our welcome packs help turn a crisis into the beginning of a fresh start.
Each one includes:
- Essential toiletries and sanitary items
- Clean towels and bedding
- Basic clothing and underwear items
- Food staples for their first few days
- A small comfort item to make their new space feel like home
Whatever you can give towards each pack means we can say:
“Welcome Home” to someone who’s just found the courage to start again.
What your support makes possible
As this goes to print, we’ve worked with 3,742 people in total, and demand continues to grow. But, behind the numbers are real achievements worth celebrating! Clients, volunteers and staff hitting milestone after milestone – internal promotions, apprenticeships and recovery achievement awards – to name a few. Together, we’re building something truly inspirational, a team that learns, grows and expands because the need is there and the progress is real!
