New course launched: rebuilding confidence after domestic abuse

Our Wellbeing team, which covers Domestic Abuse and Mental Health, has launched a brand new 12-week course for survivors of domestic abuse.

The course runs once a week for an hour, in a safe and supportive setting. It is designed to help people understand what their experience, rebuild confidence and look ahead to the future.

Each week covers a different topic. Survivors start by learning grounding techniques to help manage anxiety and distress. From there, the group explores what domestic abuse looks like, how trauma affects the mind and body, and the tactics perpetrators use to keep power and control.

The course also makes space for the positives. There are sessions on self-confidence and affirmations, parenting, personal growth and setting goals. The final week focuses on healthy relationships and how to spot the red flags and the green flags. Everyone who completes the course receives a certificate.

Every participant gets their own journal to reflect between sessions. The group is an open platform, sharing is always optional, and people can go at their own pace.

A big thank you

We would like to say a huge thank you to Clair Moelwyn-Williams from TCA Accountants. Clair kindly donated some of the stationery for the course, including folders, pens and journals. Her support has helped us get this project off the ground.

If you would like to find out more about the course, or about support from our Wellbeing team, please get in touch.
