Scott - A Better Tomorrow

Scott’s story is a tale of hope, perseverance and ultimately the transformative power of recovery. In the past ten years he has travelled from grappling with alcoholism and addiction to heading an organisation dedicated to helping others. Today Scott is the CEO of A Better Tomorrow, a testament to his remarkable journey, unwavering commitment and the life-changing work of the organisation he has helped to build.

Scott’s story begins with a battle against addiction, a struggle that left a significant mark on him and shaped his resilience and understanding. In 2014 Scott moved to Telford and was offered the chance to join the newly formed A Better Tomorrow (ABT) as its first client. The move marked a turning point and a chance to break free from the cycle of addiction and embrace recovery.

He seized the opportunity with unwavering determination and made remarkable progress in his own recovery journey. His desire to help others led him to volunteer at local recovery organisations, gaining valuable experience and understanding of the needs of the community.

Driven by his own experience and newfound knowledge, Scott embarked on relevant training courses, further equipping himself to support others. His dedication and passion were recognised, leading him to become ABT’s first volunteer support worker.

Scott excelled in his new role. He actively pursued additional training, combining his acquired expertise with his powerful lived experience to create a unique and impactful approach to supporting others. This dedication and skillset made him invaluable to ABT, and he was soon offered a full-time paid position, becoming the organisation’s first employee.

As ABT grew, so did Scott’s knowledge and understanding of the sector. He progressed to a management role, taking on increased responsibility and guiding the organisation forward. His leadership, informed by his unique perspective and dedication, played a significant role in ABT’s success.

Scott has recently celebrated achieving 10 years of sobriety. His  journey is an inspiration to us all, and his leadership and dedication to A Better Tomorrow has made a profound impact on those in their darkest days who need a helping hand across the bridge to recovery.
