Martin felt he had reached rock bottom in 2014. Years of addiction had left him lost and hopeless, trapped in a cycle of despair.
But then a glimmer of hope emerged when an encounter with the team at A Better Tomorrow threw him a lifeline. Individual therapy helped Martin to confront his demons, support groups provided a safe space where he could share his struggles, and mentorship offered invaluable guidance.
Martin found a new purpose as he overcame his addiction. As he healed, the desire to help others took over and in mid-2015 he started volunteering with A Better Tomorrow.
His passion caught the team’s attention and they offered him a paid position in November 2015. Since then he has witnessed the programme’s life-changing impact firsthand. From facilitating support groups to sharing his story with newcomers, Martin has helped many individuals find their own paths to recovery.
“Going through my own transformation and then seeing the same life changes in others has been the most fulfilling experience of my life. I am hugely grateful to A Better Tomorrow for what it has done for me.
“And now, as the chief operating officer at A Better Tomorrow, I’m excited to be a part of its mission to spread hope and empower others to build brighter futures,” he said.
