This month, we are celebrating someone who embodies everything A Better Tomorrow stands for. Hope has been part of the ABT family for ten years, and what a decade it has been! Ten years of dedication, courage and compassion that has touched the lives of so many people we support.
Hope’s journey with us is not just a story of professional commitment. It is a story of resilience, of transformation, and of what becomes possible when the right people believe in you. From her very first weekend shift to where she stands today, she has given ABT her whole heart, and we have loved every moment of having her by our side, every laugh and every tear.
We are so incredibly proud of everything Hope has achieved, and so grateful for everything she brings to our team each and every day. In her own words, this is not just a job, and for us, she is absolutely not just a colleague. ABT wouldn’t be ABT without her.
Here is her story:
My name is Hope . I have now worked for A Better Tomorrow for 10 years this May. I started working for ABT in 2016 . I had a passion to help people after the death of my brother who lost his life to a legal high . A psychoactive substance that has since had a blanket ban .
I shortly started working the weekend for A Better Tomorrow after meeting the amazing people that were the founders at a recovery conference. I remember meeting the team for the first time at A Better Tomorrow. It was unknown the welcome I would I get . They welcomed me with open arms, showed me how to become myself again and how to become a support worker. They guided me with endless support and they had and still have amazing passion to help people.
After working weekends for some time I was taken on in the week, A Better Tomorrow have always supported personal growth of their staff and clients.
It has been a turbulent journey for myself throughout the years . I have faced mental health , domestic abuse and severe trauma . Every step of the way I have been supported and loved by the members of the A Better Tomorrow team.
I have over come things that would have destroyed me with the support of these amazing people . Working for A Better Tomorrow has never felt like a job it’s more of belonging , a passion, a safe place. Somewhere you can grow and find out who you truly are .
Everyday is always a new day within the project and no day is the same which makes it interesting.
I’ve seen the organisation grow over the years; the size of the has changed, but the compassion and care have remained.
I’m truly grateful for the support that has been shown to my family and me. This is not just a job , it’s who I am . These people are not just colleagues, I can honestly say they are my family.
Biggest thank you for giving me a chance and helping me grow. For supporting me and my family. I can’t wait for what the next 10 years will bring with A Better Tomorrow – my family.
