The team was incredibly proud to attend and support this year’s Mental Health Celebration Awards — an inspiring event dedicated to recognising the courage, resilience, and achievements of individuals making a positive impact within mental health and recovery services.
The awards brought together organisations, staff, volunteers, and individuals from across the community to celebrate stories of hope, determination, and transformation. Every nominee demonstrated incredible strength through their personal journeys and through the support they continue to provide to others.
ABT were also thrilled to support the event by providing sweet treats for attendees, helping to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for everyone involved.
We are especially proud to celebrate two award winners from A Better Tomorrow:
Sue: Winner of the Leading by Example Award

Sue was recognised for her compassionate leadership, authenticity, and commitment to creating safe and supportive environments for others. Through openly sharing her lived experience and consistently encouraging positive conversations around mental health, she continues to inspire those around her and challenge stigma with empathy and integrity.
Dave: Winner of the Overcoming Adversity Award

Dave was honoured for his remarkable resilience in overcoming personal loss, mental health challenges, and substance misuse. Despite facing significant adversity, he has rebuilt his life and now uses his experiences to support others with compassion, strength, and genuine understanding.
We recognise all of our incredible nominees:

Heather – Personal Achievement
Heather was nominated for the incredible progress she has made over the past year in rebuilding her confidence and wellbeing. Through determination, engagement in support services, and completing educational qualifications, she has shown outstanding personal growth and resilience.

Jason – Recovery Star
Jason was nominated for the exceptional progress he has made in his recovery journey since joining ABT. Despite facing emotional challenges, he has remained committed to personal growth while supporting others with kindness, warmth, and encouragement.
Jose – Peer Support
Jose was recognised for his outstanding commitment to peer support through leading wellbeing and recovery groups. Drawing on his lived experience, he offers guidance, empathy, and hope to others navigating mental health and substance misuse challenges.

Dave – Inspirational Story
Dave was nominated for his inspiring recovery journey and the strength he has shown through both personal struggles and ongoing growth. His willingness to support others while continuing his own journey is a powerful example of resilience and hope.
Stacey – Volunteer of the Year
Stacey was recognised for her dedication as a volunteer and the positive impact she has on those around her. Through running baking and cooking groups and sharing her lived experience, she helps create safe, supportive spaces where others can build confidence and connection.

“Mental Health Celebration Day was held to acknowledge and celebrate people with lived experience of mental health challenges who now use their experiences to support others within the community. The event recognised the value of lived experience in promoting hope, understanding, recovery, and peer support, while highlighting the positive impact these individuals continue to make in the lives of others.
A Better Tomorrow nominated individuals who, through the support and encouragement of the service, have made positive progress in their own recovery journeys and now give back by supporting and inspiring others in the community. Their achievements reflected resilience, personal growth, and the importance of community-based support services in helping people move forward positively.”
Lee Cantrill, Team Lead, Wellbeing – Domestic Abuse & Mental Health
The event was a powerful reminder that recovery is possible, that support changes lives, and that no one should face mental health challenges alone. We are incredibly proud of every nominee and grateful to everyone involved in making the event such a success.
ABT were also proud to support the event through our baking and cooking team, who contributed a selection of sweet treats and refreshments to the buffet, helping to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for everyone attending.
