A Better Tomorrow which has been changing the lives of people in crisis since 2014, is celebrating its tenth anniversary.

The community interest company based in Woodside organised a family friendly party in August to celebrate its success stories over the decade.

A Better Tomorrow was set up originally to offer supported housing and a recovery programme for people with addiction and substance misuse. Its work has since expanded to include housing and support for those with mental health issues and homeless people and most recently to help single women fleeing domestic abuse.

ABT now has places in its 26 supported houses for more than 100 clients and also provides outreach support working in partnership to run a ‘calm café’, detox service and wraparound care.

Chief executive officer Scott Morgan was one of the first clients in 2014 and went on to volunteer and later become CEO.

“We believe we are making a tangible difference in the lives of so many, breaking the cycles of addiction, mental health challenges, homelessness, and domestic abuse.

“Our tenth anniversary party in August was a fantastic reminder of why we do what we do.  I am honoured to be playing a part in this inspiring story and celebrating that we really are saving lives one day at a time,” he said.

The community company now has plans to develop over the next ten years by expanding its work across the Midlands, including taking on more houses in Telford & Wrekin.
